Kindergarten Registration image

Registering a child for kindergarten is an exciting time for families. Registration opens today for Henrico County families to enroll kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year. There are two ways to complete the initial registration process for rising kindergartners in Henrico County Public Schools: by completing the online PowerSchool Enrollment Form or by calling the child’s school and making an appointment with the registrar for an in-person meeting. The online PowerSchool Enrollment process is strongly encouraged.

To enroll a child in HCPS kindergarten for 2024-25, the child must reside in Henrico County with a parent or court-appointed legal custodian and be 5 years old by Sept. 30.

How to complete the initial registration process online:

  1. Go to https://www.henricoschools.us/page/instructions-for-kindergarten-registration, where you’ll find a link to the PowerSchool Enrollment portal, as well as instructions and information about the documents you’ll need to register your student.

  2. Follow the step-by-step instructions.

  3. Within the portal, complete the:

    • Enrollment Form.

    • Home Language Survey.

    • McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act Screening Form.

  4. Follow the prompts to submit your initial registration documents to your school online.

  5. Your school’s registrar will contact you to arrange an in-person appointment to bring additional documents to the school to finalize the registration.
