Courses: The academic program at the Henrico Virtual Academy will offer courses taught by licensed HCPS teachers who have excelled in the virtual environment.

  • Elementary students attending the HVA will have access to the same courses as our in-person elementary learners.
  • At the secondary level (middle and high schools), students will have rigorous and engaging options like their peers in a traditional setting. Secondary course options at the HVA will include accelerated courses, select honors courses, and high school Advanced Placement courses across content areas. Students will be able to select from a variety of elective courses, world language courses, career and technical education courses, and fine arts courses. Please view our list of middle and high school virtual course offerings for more information.

Important note: The HVA is a distinct offering from HCPS specialty centers. HVA students always have the option to apply to specialized centers via the regular application process during the application window. However, students who are accepted and enroll in the Gifted Young Scholars Academy at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School, an International Baccalaureate program or a high school specialty center will attend those centers in person.
